Heltec V3.1

heltec board

A readily avaliable, cheap board that can get you started for arounf £20(GBP). The basic antenna is lacking so we recommend upgrading the base antenna to a Paradar 5dB indoor Whip or something similar. A basic case can be fashioned out of the packaging! A better quality case can be printed/bought.
Bender/Nibbler cases are really popular for this platform.

RAK 4630

rak 4630

A competitive board that focuses on minimising power, and prolonging better life. The base model / starterkit is brilliant if you are building a router/repeater.

Modules: The board supports many modules, making it very versatile! However, high power addon boards like GPS will affect the power consumption of the baseboard. But the numerous sensors are intriging and tempting.

Cases: Not so many cases available, people tend to use project boxes for their routers/repeaters instead of something flashly for the pocket/desktop.
